![]() Everything Fortnite brings to the table is a (purposefully) simplified version of what Minecraft brings to the table, and Sakurai, Nintendo, and Bamco have already gone through the effort of doing Minecraft proper justice. It was brought up elsewhere, but one hesitation I do have is how exactly the Fortnite crew would compare with the likes of Steve and Alex. People here might want to wait until 2025 to judge it but I think I can safely call it now. Yeah, the game's only 3 years old, but not only am I not exactly a fan of gatekeeping by age but for only being around 3 years Fortnite feels like it's been around for 6-7 with how quick they iterate shit, something you can see in the firm grip the game has on the younger generation. I wouldn't exactly hate the pick myself, since I do think the franchise has more than earned at least some representation in Smash. Fucking hell, even ITT Era is fucking angry! XD But like Minecraft Steve the audience Nintendo would actually be targeting with such a pick would be over the moon. The game is solid, but I don't think this would be a good pick, and I don't expect anyone on Era or Twitter would really be excited for them beyond the chaos of being able to Fortnite dance after you knock someone off stage.Įra angry, and "internet" angry, by which I mean Twitters, subreddits, and Youtubers. ![]() I say this as someone who probably played 30-50 hours of Fortnite. The game's actual artstyle wasn't incredibly unique at launch and it has become only more standard looking as more games have copied the artstyle. Heck, a lot of thd most popular skins now are already from third-parties, which you can't get into Smash. You likely couldn't pick 4 skins that would make everyone happy, and people are probably just going to be annoyed if their favorite doesn't make it in. People really like their Fortnite skins, but I don't think anyone really likes Fortnite characters as an entity. There are some interesting Fortnite skins, but it may be difficult to pick 8 key ones, or more realistically 4 with the way the rest of the DLC characters have worked. Fortnite's poster boy, Jonesy, is a very boring character. So, I suppose you could work in dances, construction, guns and I guess the pickaxe into the moveset. The dances are pretty central to Fortnite, but they are also pretty notoriously grating at this point to a lot of people. It might make the character immediately feel redundant. Fortnite relies on construction like Minecraft, so you have to deal with that. I honestly don't think a Fortnite rep would do well with places like Twitter either.įirst is the issue of making a moveset. ![]() So, Era was very out of touch for Steve, who ended up getting a lot of hype from the greater internet.
